About Robert E. McDaniel . . .
A highly respected, award winning attorney, Robert ("Bob") McDaniel has more than thirty-five years of legal, litigation and
business experience in the United States and dozens of foreign countries.
McDaniel received his undergraduate education at the United States Coast Guard Academy and did graduate work in Philosophy and English at Tulane University. After serving in a variety of military assignments in the U.S. and overseas he left active duty with the rank of Lieutenant Commander after being twice decorated for superior
performance of duty.
He graduated from Catholic University Law School in Washington, D.C. in
1982 and served as law clerk to the Hon. Tim Murphy in Washington before
joining the United States Attorney's Office. Rising rapidly through the
Department of Justice, McDaniel was assigned to the elite Special
Prosecutions Unit where he specialized in international conspiracy cases.
He received two Special Achievement Awards from the U.S. Attorney
General as well as a variety of commendations from the FBI, the U.S.
Secret Service and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
McDaniel went on to join a top New England law firm where he led the
white collar practice and concentrated on commercial litigation, civil rights
and police conduct cases, and corporate and individual representation
before the Securities Exchange Commission, Congressional Committees
and other federal agencies.
His career path took him "in-house" as General Counsel to US multi-
national companies where he directed international deal-making and
dispute resolution. McDaniel has handled commercial and legal matters
in more than 40 countries was eventually appointed Head of Legal Affairs
for the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) at its
largest diplomatic Mission.
He was Professor of Law at The European School of Law and
Governance in Kosovo where he taught international business and post-
conflict property law by live simulcast to students in Slovenia, Turkey, Italy,
Saudi Arabia, Albania and Croatia. McDaniel continues to serve as an
Economic and Legal Advisor to European governments, Bar Associations
and international organizations. He teaches Rule of Law, economic
development and diplomacy, and judicial system improvement to judges,
attorneys and government officials in Eastern Europe.
McDaniel is on the Board of Advisors and Faculty of the University of New
Hampshire International Law and Justice Program where he teaches classes in money laundering, international white collar
crime, and international trafficking offenses.
McDaniel was named International Lawyer of the Year by the NH Bar Association in 2012. He has a Distinguished Rating from Martindale-Hubbel.
